serving the community
A key part of what we do is to serve and in serving each other and the community we pray that people will experience the love of Jesus.
Christians against poverty
Christians Against Poverty is an award winning national debt councelling charity that operates through a network of centres based in local churches. In partnership with other local churches, we launched CAP Brixton In January 2016,
We offer a unique ‘hands on’ approach that involves visiting clients in their homes and offering debt counselling, advice and practical help. This approach empowers people to help themselves out of poverty and to be released from the worry and fear that is often caused by overwhelming debt.
If you are struggling with debt, or know someone who is, you can call 0800 328 0006, or click here to find out more. Our service is completely free and available to all.
We also run a CAP Money Course for budgeting guidance. Speak to one of the Sunday team for more info.
We launched the Brixton distribution centre (part of the Norwood and Brixton Foodbank in 2013 through a partnership with Churches Together Brixton and Stockwell.
Our Foodbank provides emergency food for those in crisis via a voucher referral system, and distributes non-perishable food via donations from the local community. We are supported by an amazing team of enthusiastic volunteers. We don't only provide food, but also offer a comprehensive sign-posting service and additional advice on social housing and the benefit system through our onsite advice team. .
The Brixton branch of the Norwood and Brixton foodbank is situated at St Paul's church on Ferndale Road and is open on Tuesday and Saturday between 10am and 1pm .
