ABOUT

Beacon is a growing, diverse church, gathering people from all groups of society and from all over south central London. It currently has community groups in Tulse Hill, West Dulwich and Brixton. We are involved with a number of initiatives including CAP and Foodbank which we run in conjunction with Churches Together Brixton and Stockwell.

Our mission as a church revolves around three key themes.

A centre of grace in the heart of the community

A church family

A resource church

Please feel free to visit our mission page for some more information.

leadership

Our pastor – Owen Hylton serves as the full-time pastor of Beacon church. He is married to Pauline and they have three daughters, Yasmin, Rhianna and Daisy. Before leading Beacon, Owen was on the full time staff team of Kings Church in Catford. Prior to that, he worked for fourteen years in the civil service. Owen is the author of the book ‘Crossing the Divide – a call to embrace diversity.

History

Beacon Church was planted in March 2007 out of Kings Church in Catford. In January 2009 Owen Hylton joined the church as pastor since then the church has moved from the Ritzy Picturehouse Cinema to various other homes and is now meeting at Clapham Park Centre, just behind Richard Atkins Primary School.

Partners

Beacon Church is part of Newfrontiers an international family of churches together on a mission (currently approaching 300 churches in the UK and probably 1,000 worldwide). We are involved with Newday (a national youth event) and also a member of the Evangelical Alliance. Locally we are part of Churches Together Brixton and Stockwell, a partnership of local churches through which we run the Norwood and Brixton Foodbank and CAP debt centre and job club.
